Winter Ash
Sidereal Times
—————————–
Dionysian Directive’s debut album – Secure the Shadow – is an alchemical representation of the journey of life as a passing of the seasons. On this journey, the listener assumes the role of The Protagonist, an embodiment of the questioning soul.
From the opening of Spring and the birth of a new dream grammar, The Protagonist cannot avoid sidereal influence becoming sidereal possession. With the realisation that prayer never served a purpose, shall refuge be found in invoked murderous insanity? The Protagonist knows that in thought, word and deed, the end must always be the same as the means. Hence the need to curse and curse again.
Summer is upon The Protagonist. The lies wielded by the enslavers of humanity are now obvious under the clear midday sun. The rational leads The Protagonist back to the mundane and the knowledge that this world is a machine, a factory. It will continue as it is until the final awakening, when humanity can at last be no more.
The leaves are falling. How can The Protagonist find true direction in life now? It is already growing late. The poles are shifting; mercury spins. Everything cycles around the central void before being subsumed by it. The harbinger of death is passion’s flame; so let the dogs prepare a requiem and have the children don their funereal garbs.
Winter. Ash settles from the great combustion. The Protagonist has come to know that the only force that will never die is Death alone. Prepare the postmortem of the ghosts of a life spent, wasted. This dream grammar – from green to grey – is at an end. The Protagonist too must take a final curtain bow and face inevitable dissolution.
And yet, despite all this, the great cycle of the seasons continues. Another protagonist is damned into being and takes the place of the deceased on the well-trodden path.
A fresh victim for an ancient system.
Trace the signs in blood and know your pain, Protagonists.
